Never use Science Diet, either. That is a very crappy brand. If your dog is ever sick, the vet will recommend Science Diet. Their Rx diets are Ok for some dogs who need them, but don't get the regular Science Diet. Here is a website partly on Science Diet:

I feed the raw diet. It is the best you can feed most dogs. I suggest you look into it.

I feed my dogs nutrisource, when my puppy was 6 months i switched her to the adult large breed formula since she is large just like your dane will be.

We tried science diet (vet recommended), natural balance (samples were included in our new puppy basket), eukanuba (pricy), diamond naturals (cheap but gave my dogs bad gas), etc and for us nutrisource worked the best, also it was very affordable at our local pet feed store. http://www.nutrisourcedogfood.com/

Do NOT feed your Dane puppy any puppy food of any kind not even large breed. Puppy foods can cause some very serious growth issues in Danes. The protein, fat & calcium is too high. Find a good quality adult food that is 24% protein or less such as Canidae ALS, Wellness Super5 Mix Chicken, Merrick, Solid Gold, Innova (Not EVO since it is too high in protein), California Natural, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul regular adult or large breed adult formula just to nmae a few.
Never feed any foods containing corn, wheat, soy or by products. Stay away from grocery store foods such as Science Diet, Purina, Alpo, Kibbles n"Bits, Pedigree and the like.
