We have a Great Dane puppy that is 5 months old, he is vert sweet UTD on all shots and everything, but for some reason lately he has been having horrible diarea and foam comes out of his mouth somtimes, Is it just becuase great danes drool somtimes, or is it a symtome of some health issue? and when it does a LOT of it comes out. Why could this be happeneing? (Don't worry we will take him to the vet) Could it be the food he is eating? We feet him natural Choice, Not puppy food becuase we know about the protein issues with Giant breed puppies. If anyone knows what we should do or what might becuasing this please let me know. Thank you so much. It's greatly appreciated.
We live up north in Wisconsin, those poisonious toads don't live here. and yes people WE ARE TAKING HIM TO THE VET.
You should contact your vet & the breeder you got him from and find out if these symptoms have to do with a breed specific health issue.

Jeez…..get to a vet. The puppy could have life threatening problems!!!

there could be many different reasons why
i would say parvo but you said he already had all of his shots, um… i had this friend who had this dog, and the dog ate a toad and the dog was foaming at the mouth alot, and the next morni the dog had died over night from the toad! well i hope thats not the case< i hope he gets to feeling better

i would suggest the vet to check him out
Some of the most common reasons for foaming are:
Ingesting something he shouldn't
Motion sickness
Distemper (which is vaccinated against and is highly contageous)
Sounds like you do need to get to the vet ASAP!

Worry about parvo. the foaming mouth is from an upset stomach. Parvo symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, may be blood in either one, lethargic and dehydrated. Can't keep food down.

Hi, did you get to the vet yet? Did you check to make sure he doesn't have a wound inside his mouth? When is he drooling? Right after he eats? Has he been on this food for a while now, or just recent? Maybe he's allergic to it?
I'd try switching him to another food and see if it improves. My Shep had terrible itchy skin and diah. as a puppy. I left him on the same food (Iams puppy) per the vet's suggestion.
After a few months, I couldn't take it anymore and switched him to Eagle Pack Natural. Within a few days, both problems were totally cleared up.
Give it a try and see what happens. His poor tummy is already a mess. Do half new / half old brand food for 2 days, then go to all new food. (You're breaking up his food into 3 meals per day, right?)
I'd also reccommend Chicken Soup for Pet Lovers Soul/ Adult, or Canidea/ ALS if you can't find Eagle Pack locally.
My 10 month dane only drools right before mealtime. Other than that, nothing.
Check our http://www.greatdanelady.com for way more info on raising dane pups. Good luck!
