Chocolate Great Dane?!!!!!?

For years i have searched for photographs of a Chocolate Great Dane or a breeder that owns one or a few. Does anyone know of a place with photographs of them or a website from a breeder that has any?!
I once came across a photo of two deep chocolate great danes on a Russian website and since then have never seen any danes with that rich of coloration.

I am not talking about fawn or brindle
I am talking about the recessive color trait of chocolate.
I've seen the article and i've seen a chocolate puppy that was born with seom silvers on a website as well but no adults!
is the breeder bluediamond?
there is no email in ur profile
can you just add details and put the link up and then by noon delete the adress you've added?
my email is is having problems

I know of a "breeder" website that has pictures of adult and puppy chocolate Danes, plus several other non-breed standard accepted colors. However, I do not agree with their breeding practices, i.e., no health testing, breeding dogs that don't have conformation or performance titles, so I don't want to give them any more publicity than necessary. If you want to e-mail me (you can find my e-mail address under my profile) I will sent you a link to their website.

Sorry, I thought it was in my profile. The breeder is not Blue Diamond. My address is gr8dane013@yahoo.com.

Yes there are Chocolate danes! In all varieties… harlequins, merles, solids etc! I have a Chocolate Harlequin male puppy. AKC does recognize them for their akc papers and on AKC forms however, they are not a acceptable AKC color to be shown as of right now.

  8. Hello, I received a phone call from someone looking for pups and when I ran a search for my name this blog came up.
Yes, there are chocolate danes, no I don’t have them.
I can tell you however, that depending on your camera, the time of day or the light and the background, the blues will appear to be smoky, black, even chocolate. I took a photo of my new litter, and the background color was an orange fleece wrap that I had picked up for their bedding, it was inexpensive, so I bought it, not because of the color, but the pups did appear to have a brownish cast to them against the orange background.
AKC website shows a complete list of possible colors, and no not all are recognized for purposes of showing in conformation classes. You have to link into their site, and search, I haven’t been there in quite some time so I forget which link to follow.
There is another Blue Diamond located in Michigan, and when I looked at their pups a few years ago online, their pups looked like Blue Mantles.

I am glad you can blog, I tried to start a blog called puppy growth steps, sort of like a child’s first steps book, but was unsucessful, and gave up.

We just bought a puppy that was suppose to be blue. Both parents are blue according to the breeder. Apparently he is chocolate but, the vet said that because thier is no chocolate in thier bloodline that over time they should turn blue, has anyone heard that before? Spent alot of money on a blue one and alittle upset that he is chocolate, he is still younge though, he was born on April 8th.

Chocolate Danes exist - they are simply dogs bred from 2 Danes who both carry the liver gene.

Is it ethical to breed them on purpose, not in my books, I haven’t seen a nicely conformed Liver Dane so far, have you?

  21. Brook McCurdy says:

I just bought a chocolate Dane and her name is CoCo! She is a Stunning solid chocolate color. I have ran across so much negativity on this color Gene and I really dont understand why people are so anti Chocolate ? There is a great dane club out of San Antonio and they were so Bitter on the color it was absolutly disgusting. How can anyone say that these dogs are not acceptable when they are full blooded just as there standard 6 colors are. I think the color makes mine all that more special then any other.
